Overview
GreenBanker is a digital banking and salary disbursement platform designed for organizations and entrepreneurs. I led the frontend development of the GreenBanker web application, building the product from the ground up alongside a junior developer I mentored.
The platform handled sensitive financial workflows onboarding, transactions, permissions, and salary payments, which meant the frontend needed to be reliable, predictable, and easy to reason about. This project pushed me to think deeply about architecture, security-conscious UI patterns, and building systems that multiple teams could safely rely on.
Roles and responsibilities
Building the product from scratch
I led the frontend implementation of GreenBanker, defining the application structure, folder organization, and state management approach from day one. The goal was clarity: predictable flows, clear separation of concerns, and minimal coupling between features.
State and permissions
GreenBanker relied heavily on roles and permissions. I designed frontend guards and abstractions that ensured users only saw and interacted with what they were allowed to — reducing risk and simplifying future feature work.
Transactions and real-time data
Financial data needed to feel accurate and immediate. I implemented transaction views and real-time updates that made salary disbursement and account activity easy to track and verify.
Internal tools
Beyond the customer-facing app, I built an internal dashboard used by operations teams to track GreenBanker activity, troubleshoot issues, and monitor usage. This replaced manual processes and significantly improved internal efficiency.
Mentorship & collaboration
I worked closely with backend engineers and designers while mentoring a junior frontend developer — reviewing code, guiding architectural decisions, and helping them level up through real production work.
Challenges & Solutions
- Sensitive financial workflows: Designed clear, intentional UI patterns to reduce user error.
- Complex permissions: Implemented role-based UI gating that scaled as features grew.
- Growing scope: Maintained a clean architecture to prevent feature creep from degrading code quality.
- Internal visibility: Built dashboards that gave non-technical teams insight without engineering support.
Impact
- Enabled organizations to disburse salaries efficiently and reliably
- Replaced manual internal tracking with a real-time admin dashboard
- Improved frontend maintainability as the product and team scaled
- Helped onboard and mentor a junior developer into production-ready work
- Established frontend patterns reused across future GreenBanker features
